In 1970, the largest and longest student walkout to advocate for Hispanic teachers and books on CHICANO/A culture and history was planned and delivered by the students at Uvalde, Texas’ high school. Kaitlyn Gonzales, age 10 (turning 11) in the midst of her shared grief Carrie’s on, giving voice to the oppressed/exploited/long-term traumatized people of one Texas town. If the trope still holds, everything may be bigger in Texasin 2023, but everything is demonstrably and remarkably, robustly, not better. ALL OF the children and adults of UVALDE ARE NOT OKAY, AND HAVE NOT BEEN OKAY FOR TOO LONG A TIME. Given the resources and financial wealth in Texas, this can no longer be/become ‘a sustainable standard operating procedure’ of intentional terror.

THE NICKNAME of the Uvalde shooter was, horrifyingly and cruelly ironically — -“SHOOTER”. IN today’s Washington Post, there is a featured report over anti-Asian immigrants who wish to buy homes in Florida. @43:00ff, we learn the law could result in the denial of treatment for immigrants without documentation to be denied treatment.
