ACT 1 - THE ORIGIN STORY
[Victor Hugo Green was tired. Across the nation, our people were growing more affluent, and finally traveling a lot more. But for some of us, travel came at a horrible cost.
White terrorism and racism often kept many Black people from staying at good hotels, eating at nice establishments, or even getting gas! This inability to access essential services was both inconvenient and dangerous.]

Green was a traveler himself, and he often kept a personal list of establishments that were safe for Black travelers. His idea was simple: he would collect this information across the nation and make it available to Black travelers. Would it work, though?
Absolutely! Green’s work, known as the Green Book, sold thousands of copies a year. For decades, it not only made traveling easier for our people, but it also saved thousands of lives – because we knew and could avoid the places where white terrorism ran rampant.]

ACT 2- DO YOU REMEMBER THE TIME?
This history reminds me how low the USA has gone from 2015 to 2021. The Green Book calls to mind this colloquial expression: Necessity is the Mother of Invention. Today, any Green Book routing would be impossible due to our nation, the USA, never becoming WE THE PEOPLE in the battle against a deadly, infectious, and asymptomatically-spread-by- breathing. COVID 19 is an aerosol/ airborne contagion.
Unfortunately, policies originally intended to harm pre-ordained groups within the human race tore open deep tissue wounds again. In my lived experience, the downward slide had started the day the colonizers from Great Britain, France, and Spain set foot on American soil-- from Canada, through the USA, Latin America, and South America. At the time, racism was not an inconvenient truth.
 Discrimination based upon race had been an accepted and necessary world order from the days of Pope Nicolas V. He issued a proclamation that said that Moors from the North/ Northwestern shores of Africa could be treated as slaves. Over the years, a pseudoscience based on race, EUGENICS, was created and supported by the founders of corporate capitalist systems of healthcare. Over hundreds of generations, the World granted most favored skin color status to everyone except the Africans.
 
So the world I arrived to find on Wednesday the thirteenth of May, 1959 at 4:30 pm had already had centuries of racist radical rugged individualists. I have lived my entire life not knowing any other experience than one in which anyone who couldn't "pass" for white lived under the constant threat of exploitation and capricious cruelty-- a legacy tied inextricably to the need in the adolescent USA need for a scapegoat and or whipping boy.
Ironically, the King James Version of the Holy Bible offered itself as a Green Book for White People. Judaism and Christian religions had accepted the claims of the Eugenicists that all humans had NOT been created equal. Their Creator and Creation Origin Story depicted white, blue-eyed blonds as the victors in the end. And, of course, the end would be directed and produced by some very creative marketing and salesmanship by parish priests, Bishops, and Cardinals. The chain of Command led directly up to The Pope, GOD's MAN ON EARTH, forever and ever, Amen. The Bible came in a convenient form for memorization and to support/justify/codify systems of public policy everywhere its missionaries established a foot-in-the-door, so to speak.
Today, the USA, totally drunk on the wine of the world, has forgotten Love, morality, and a commonly shared ethic. By definition and based upon repeated, observed behaviors, the USA ( and the known world) had forgotten GOD = LOVE, AND LOVE = GOD.
So, remaining intoxicated on alcohol, tobacco, and firearms, among many other mind-numbing and pleasurable addictive behaviors, the USA lurches from crises to chaos. Go anywhere near a group of people energized by uncivil political discourse and see/hear for yourself. Character assassination and threatening attack language is the soup du hour, every blessed day.
Lay on top of this hot mess a strict upbringing in a family sick as its sickest secret, incest via rape of a toddler between the ages of 3 to 5 years old, and you find one gay male sibling. Much like Amanda Bynes's character in Hairspray, the only places we were allowed to be were home, school and church.
The problem I found as I finished college and entered the world of living and working single was how ill-prepared I was to co-exist in a world of work that saw me only for the profits that it could make. It was a world where race still mattered in all of its harm and cruelty. Co-exist was a four-letter cuss word. Having slaves, becoming a widow, and poverty of body, mind, and soul were accepted as fait(s) accompli.
My chosen way of being hinged on insanely relentless optimism and advocacy for seeing beauty everywhere in a world with four core beliefs:
Learning to love myself, again
UPR, UL, and TGR. But my body, blessed with inheriting the strengths of both sides of my family, gradually grew more and more inflamed.
Sometimes I wonder if the only way I could survive was through inflammation. Literally from my head to my toes, inflammation has run rampant for the last 59 of my 62 years on Earth as it is in Heaven. Music and spoken word have always been my comfort foods. Reading books reminds me that I am still in the land of the living.
ACT 3: RETURN and REPEAT AS NEEDED
The idea of returning to engage a fractured, hostile, and tantrumming world gives me the Heebie jeebies.
Unless return means I am making a contribution towards a world that works for all of its inhabitants.

EPILOGUE: DID THE USA STAY TOO LONG AT THE FAIR? AT LEAST THE BAND PLAYED ON, so, against its better judgment, people kept dancing, exhausted, overwhelmed, they just kept partying like it was 1999 until it became 2020 all over again.
Of all the voices in this story, none of them are licensed physicians. None of them are epidemiologists with expertise in knowing how viruses spread and multiply and or mutate.

The article lays blame and responsibility on the Chiefs and The Elders. It characterizes them as villainous duplicitous clowns. The one quote from VPOTUS Harris that is featured is, " Nobody likes wearing masks.

COVID19 is an aerosol carried deadly and contagious virus. It is spread chiefly by persons with no visible systems. Expression of An immature and childish frustration of an educational leader and role model while at the office doing the people's business is the equivalent of me using a staff meeting to vent about company management.
Venting frustration publicly helps no one except the speaker.
Besides, she is only speaking for some of the people when her job is to speak for all of the people in the nation.
Why was it decided that it was ever in the best interest of the people of the USA to not be 100% current on CDC COVID19 SOP at all times?
Save the venting for private meetings with your boss. Take responsibility for not keeping up with staff's work and resolve to do better. Then never let that happen again by constantly keeping in the loop of CDC/ WHO / UN/ EEU responses in the COVID 19 war. Stop arguing amongst ourselves when we literally and figuratively do not know whereof we speak. Do be insistent on being kept in the loop. Do demand accountability. Do be concerned when initiatives fail and seek to learn what to modify to achieve desired outcomes. Always choose to behave professionally, without negative emotion, cynicism, sarcasm, or snarkiness when doing official business. Politeness is important. Knowing your audience is essential.
When you are an elected leader, it means WE, THE PEOPLE, who work in part to pay your salaries, house, clothe and feed you and your family, expect you to be polite, diplomatic and act against your personal interests when public health and safety are at risk.
Your words matter, always. Your public actions matter. You'll do better, however if your private actions are congruent with your public pronouncements.
Take a cue from entertainment professional and comedienne extraordinaire Ms. Flame Monroe. Her pronouns pay respect to her work. They are three words combined into A SINGULAR EXPRESSION HE-SHE-WE. "He goes to work, and She makes the money, He spends the money." - Flame Monroe in multiple interviews.
She is a loving parent first, last, and always
She is a working professional entertainer
She is a thought leader, masterful educator, Educational Leader, and role model for the ideal example of masculinity co-existing with fierce femininity.
She has made a commitment to and an investment for her chosen profession via extreme ( from my POV, not Ms. Monroe's) breast augmentation.
There is a body of socially appropriate behaviors essential to all leaders, particularly those elected and or those appointed by diverse voters. We were starved of that for the last six years of the DJT Traveling Circus of The Stars. Perhaps two or three
generations having potentially been rewarded and praised for poor and or mediocre performance have been pawns in the descent into insanity and chaos.
The descent, as we all watched in horror, reached an all-time LOW on January 6, 2021, as angry, organized, and weaponized white vandals stormed the US CAPITAL BUILDING. People died, were injured, and or deeply traumatized as a Trump- anointed and appointed mob sent to force a nation to allow him to remain employed after he had lost and universally failed to have himself, DJT, declared the winner of the November 2020 referendum.

This is implied to be a mistake/ weakness: Since Biden took office, much of the decision-making and messaging around pandemic policy has been in the hands of public health officials, not politicians. [This is as it should have been all along. The only problem is the White House now wanting a scapegoat. Apparently, it has selected the CDC as its scapegoat. WHO long ago declined a similar offer from the EEU.]
[3.) It's a stark reversal from the Trump administration, which was accused by some members of its own coronavirus task force of interfering in public health decisions and releasing false information that contradicted the messaging from CDC officials.

But it's an approach that has come with its own set of drawbacks.

It has fallen on the White House to deal with the aftermath of confusing messages out of the agency on whether schools can reopen if teachers aren't vaccinated or if it's safe for vaccinated people to travel.

When peppered with questions about why restrictions are still in place for travel to many countries, a decision that has frustrated the tourism industry and Americans with family abroad, the White House has deferred to its public health officials, who haven't provided a clear rationale.

Now, medical experts say this week's announcement that vaccinated people might need to put their masks back on has suffered from the same lack of clear, unified messaging that plagued the spring guidance that they could take them off — leading to a similar swell of public confusion.

"This has been a consistent problem with the CDC," said Dr. Leana Wen, a former Baltimore health commissioner. "The same thing happens back in May, where they got the science right but the policy and communications really confused. And that directly led to where we are today."

While the CDC and West Wing are in near-daily contact, administration officials said the timing of the mask announcement was driven by the agency.]
So here is where things get muddied and or confusing for me. Why aren't they in daily contact? This virus can spread exponentially in a matter of hours, not days or weeks. Only a 24/7 collaboration in real-time will suffice. Do they need to create three shifts of support staff for Command, Control, and Communications? This way no one is overworked and burns out.
EPILOGUE
We have again been reminded that we are our own worst enemy whenever COVID 19 is around. The POTUS46 team is merely a gentler, kinder version of POTUS45. We demand better! Or is it no longer WE THE PEOPLE. Is the USA criminally insane, suicidal, and homicidal? Everywhere the media outlets look ( like this writer and his editors) that is what they report. So, now it becomes vital that friends and family members tell each other the truth, their whole truths, on pain of death. Why? Because they could at any time find their lives forfeit and with no time left to shower the people they love with love and show them the way they feel.
Which brings me full circle to March 13, 2020. I was waiting to hear back from my Principal to confirm that I was medically cleared to return to work after recovering from the brink of major organ failure. I was regretting all the things I hadn't shared. I found myself begging for a second chance to do-over one more time.
Voila! My wish was granted. And yet:

"When that happened in 2020, politics and preferred messaging trumped public health, with a president who buried his head in the sand at best and overruled or contradicted public health leaders at worst. The science is the science, and thank God we follow it because lives are at stake here."

But so, perhaps, is Biden's presidency. The gap between White House hopes and the CDC's hard reality has come into especially sharp relief over the course of the past week, as a cascade of events have left the “summer of freedom” Biden predicted in June, and potentially his wider agenda, increasingly under threat.

Covid cases have spiked due to the rapidly spreading delta variant. New data indicates that even vaccinated people may be able to spread the virus. The number of new daily vaccine doses delivered has plateaued at levels far below spring highs.

And yet, the Band Plays On

And the virus's continued threat has hit home for Biden in recent days, with infections in a fully vaccinated White House staffer, an aide to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and a group of Texas state representatives who visited with Vice President Kamala Harris.

During a presidential trip to Pennsylvania on Tuesday, White House officials found themselves trying to determine if the Mack Trucks plant he was touring was in a "yellow zone," which would allow him to remain mask-free, or an "orange zone," which would have required him to don a face covering in public for the first time in two months.

(A CDC map with county-level data based on weekly averages from three days ago indicated it was yellow, though the neighboring county was orange.)

Back in Washington, the White House was nearing the end of a month that began with an "independence from the virus" bash with a far more subdued tone.]
