As simply as I comprehend this article, it appears several “ pillars of the academy rushed to acquit/ declare innocent a "great woman of letters” before an investigation concluded. I agree with Dr. Robinson and think that is really all she was trying to say.

Today, however, I am reminded that few to no “pillars of any of the academies of arts&letters, or science, or medicine, or religion&spirituality, or public health or public policy have spoken in support or defense of a fascist POTUS45. Sadly, this fact renders Dr. Robinsons article irrelevant because the academy has failed to provide educational leadership through essays and public discourse needed so profoundly in our nation and around the world. The incident her comments were “illuminating" now seems only the “canary in the coal mine". The canary has died, now what?
