In the space of a few weeks during a ministry and writing trip in Asia, I lost almost all energy and mobility, was diagnosed with advanced stage 4 lymphoma, and evacuated back to Australia. For a time I was largely unable to think, speak, and eat properly, and spent three months in hospital undergoing chemotherapy and rehabilitation. Halfway through these, via people’s prayers and good chemo, thanks to God I experienced complete remission. Several months later life is now completely back to normal, with only quarterly checkups to ensure the remission is continuing." and also, “Back in Sydney, I headed up a new Institute for Christian Studies on a university campus - where Linda was a chaplain - whose courses could be taken by any student towards their degree. Alongside this, I wrote books on a theology of everyday life, contemporary film, and leadership, and was honored with a Festschrift by some well-known scholars.
