Dear Mr. Prince: Consider this: a simple but mandatory conversation before every transaction where a life could potentially be created could limit the “abortion” conversation to saving children’s lives and the lives of mothers. I speak as an incest survivor.

My perpetrator left me with scarring from permanent anal tears. No one anticipated that unrelated medical issues would reveal what had been forcefully taken without the consent of a three year old with implicit trust that his father loved him unconditionally, would greet him with unconditional positive regard, and would practice The Golden Rule. “HE!” thought he had permanently buried the evidence, so to speak

Sadly, no one chose to embrace the permanent negative impact of “molding” children from agrarian communities into blood- lusting warriors on the battlefields of Korea either. Dropping my father and too many others back into non-combatant civilian lives after prolonged and intensive exposure to the horror of war was doomed from the start. I will never know, because my father (and too many warriors returned to peacetime service) was never taught how to ask permission first for procreative sex.

In fact, the more I think about other possible conversations the more people and medical science should be in the conversation and contemplation of mindful impregnation, intercourse, and carrying a fetus to term. Matthew Prince’s article is too little and far too late.

However, since my scenarios are far from mainstream, Prince’s essay may be the best we can do under current circumstances. I see a great and sustainable value in two minds of sexual human beings joining BEFORE their bodies, minds, and souls are pleasured. Gentle reader, what do you see?
