Definitely disagree with this statement; here is why: the existence of those patient, competent, courageous, and compassionate teachers I mentioned earlier.
I do not know our total percentage in the USA, BUT WE DO STILL EXIST. Rumors of my death and the deaths of my current allies who teach are being greatly exaggerated to stoke fear and division within the USA's vox populi. Verify before you trust any word-of-mouth, journalist, popular influencer, and or Public Intellectual. Specifically, those public intellectuals not engaging via peer-reviewed academic journals in addition to their very vocal and visual entertainment-as-expert-dramatization-of-real life.
BONUS CONTENT, more fun stuff to learn about at a public library, etc: When did Dr.s Greg Carr, Cornel West, and Glenn Loury last publish within their academic Guilds? For me, the most helpful reading is when I can see what the writer/storyteller/etc. has done and continues to do with what skills they have been given.
