From your story " I know it is frowned upon in mainstream society now, but calling someone gay was just a common insult back then." As late as the 20th Century in the United States of America, what you call 'a common insult' could still get people killed, fired from jobs, forced to resign ( as Governor of New Jersey), and or trigger suicide, homicide(s), and or divorced. In Florida and or Georgia (?)in 2023, children under 18 so labelled can be taken from the birth/ residence families and their parents charged with child abuse. Meanwhile, thousands of BIPOC families disown, abandon, and silently otherwise disconnect themselves socioemotionally and socioeconomically from typically male siblings, uncles, cousins, etc and HIV/AIDS deaths are highest among their groups, OUTSIDE AND OR INSIDE of their spiritual communities and or panhellenic societies. SILENCE= DEATH is now more true than ever before. SO, PLEASE CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN THE CONFIDENTIALITY OF ALL THOSE WHO SEEM TO TRUST YOU WITH THEIR LIVES/ LIVELIHOODS, etc.
