GLADLY, WOULD THEY TEACH, AND GLADLY WOULD THEY LEARN: TOWARDS A QUALITY EDUCATION FOR ALL IN THE PUBLIC’S BEST INTERRESTS (1 OF A SERIES)

3.27.2023: Medium.com exists in large part because Journalism, as I was taught at John F. Kennedy Memorial High School in Paterson, NJ in 1976–1977, has been thoroughly corrupted by corporate capitalism’s ethics-optional core values and is basically an untrustworthy source for news. To realize this for yourselves, understand that every major platform staffed by people paid to express the worldviews of a predominately male, predominately mono-cultural, generationally wealthy, and almost exclusively Eugenicist cohort. Start with every newspaper with the “Times” and or the “Tribune” on its masthead, read their front page articles, and you immediately confirm their particular point of view.

Next, find their OPINION page(s). As media mogul Steve Harvey would happily tell you, “Trust and believe they are always trying to sell papers, nothing more and for d**m sure nothing less.” He knows whereof he speaks because he’s also vying for your attention which capitalism has established a dollar value for in order to build and maintain his family’s generational wealth. Yes gentle readers, as you knew before you elected to read this essay, that is the way of the world in 2023.

Sadly, public education in the USA and around the world has also warped, bent and twisted itself in the service of a predominately male, predominately mono-cultural, generationally wealthy, and almost exclusively Eugenicist cohort. Let’s start with the graduate schools and work our way down. A brief history: Only the children of the generationally wealthy could afford the luxury of a graduate education at the historically exclusive elite insitutions of higher learning. No one eles had the time or energy to enjoy the luxury of drilling down into subjects to become masters of knowledge and research in general and specific fields of study. To that end, thank the Universe for the Internet — the Great Equalizer, and COVID-19 lockdown and protocols. Together they forced forced the general population to learn to use technology essential to life in the Information Age. It is not hyperbole to say that homo sapiens as a species would not have survived without both the aforementioned global events.

And now, some perpsectives from my first person historical narrative as a non-traditional certificated educator and private tutor since the age of 13.
