I certainly appreciate this article. Based on Tony Thurmond's inaction being preferable to the other candidate apparently just being a polemicist, I am curious about: 1.) What you see any elected State Supt. Of Public Instruction could be doing and 2.) Why you do not choose(?)want(?) to run to replace him. In my Educational Consultancy, SPED learners ages 18-24 and their parents/ guardians are my target audience. Thus, at a minimum, I voted for Thurmond because I hoped he could actually enhance and increase funding and support for what I consider to be our neediest and most vulnerable learners. Such advocacy, as you know, is sorely lacking from Supt. Carvalho, LAUSD, and the bloated and corrupt UTLA. BTW, I have two Right-to-Sue letters from CA Civil Rights Division to support that last sentence. Additionally, even after following CA State Attorney General's Office recommendation to reach out directly to our current and previous LAUSD Superintendents, I have had zero response from Buetner or Carvalho. It is obvious to me that in a page right out of the GOP playback, they can simply choose silence/ unresponsiveness to any communication. This is the same LAUSD + UTLA that told my students that I had died, then were openly hostile when my former Principal advocated for my return after my recovery from Major Organ Failure in March 2020. Sadly, what I can charitably describe as being spat in the face by a con-artist/sublessor on March 3 is how I contracted COVID-19. Thus, when my insurance provider appropriately declared me High Risk for COVID-19, the only way I work now is remotely. Sadly, this was just the excuse LAUSD + UTLA needed to "move in another direction" when they wanted to get rid of me, then harassed me by making 2 false claims to CA EDD to stop my benefits. Each time their false claims were refuted, but the economic damage is irreversible. Now that the State of California has made 60 and over Senior Citizens, my only options for life going forward seem to narrow each day the USA devolves into chaos. But for reasons I attribute to my faith alone, I am still encouraged by the next generations. Most are wise beyond their chronological years.
