Q1- Even assuming we have every right to deport someone, the question remains: do we have any responsibility for their treatment?

A1: Well DOWN BY THE SCHOOLYARD, first I believe we should want to be clear and why they came to the US in the first place. In 2025, we also need to know what crime(s) they were committing at the point of ICE detention. Chances are, they have fled one of the countries where the US attempted to engineer ‘regime change’ in order to extract something(s) of value from the country they originally departed from. Since Trump2.0 began, one-too-many of the detainees have been and remain innocent of any crime, one-too-many of the detained were working at legal jobs and or actively parenting, and or taking care of the sick, aging, and or otherwise infirm. Last night, I saw one was actually a US CITIZEN AND POC working in law enforcement. LONG STORY SHORT- when we find the US created the situation that brought them in the first place, the US bears 100% of the responsibility- FIRST for their humane treatment, THEN, for their due process rights, at a universal minimum.
