Shootings in schools are immensely tragic—as is a child’s death from any cause—but relatively rare. Measured in terms of total fatalities, COVID-19 was far more dangerous for American children—even though the disease has largely spared young people, relative to its impact on older segments of the population. About 740 children have died of COVID-19 since January 2020, according to provisional CDC data as of Dec. 1. That is much greater than the number of children killed by guns at school, even in an average two-year period.
But it’s less than the number of American children killed by guns overall.
In 2021 thus far, in the United States, 1,401 children have died because of gun violence, according to the Gun Violence Archive. Amid a rise in gun violence in the last year, some hospitals have reported a record surge in child gunshot victims.
2141. Two thousand one-hundred and forty-one unnecessary deaths of children in the USA so far in 2021. As a Black American Survivor who followed a sending and a calling to be an Education Professional for 49 years as of September, 2021, one unnecessary death of a child in America is one death too many.
From my perspective as a teacher of mathematics, the pain of one unneeded death of a child has exponential traumatic effects to homo sapien communities. At a minimum:
2 parents
4 grandparents
2 Sets of Uncles/Aunts
2 Sets of first cousins, second cousins, 3rd cousins, 4th cousins, 5th cousins
14 Teachers, presuming one for each "grade" from pre-K through 12th grade
For EACH Teacher, EMT, Law Enforcement Officer, Spiritual Community Leader, Principal, Pediatrician, Registered Nurse:
----- 2 parents
------4 grandparents
------2 Sets of Uncles/Aunts
------2 Sets of first cousins, second cousins, 3rd cousins, 4th cousins, 5th cousins
------14 Teachers, presuming one for each "grade" from pre-K through 12th grade
When, due to living in The Age of Information and The Immediacy of Internet Access are factored in, our horror and revulsion are magnified when we discover that we have a situation where the parents of a white student in Michigan, a state known for allowing armed white men to swarm in its State Capital in solidarity with POTUS 45, where a father purchased a deadly force weapon and gave it to a son with a history of something requiring both parents to be summoned to the school to address their child's repeated behavioral issues the day he takes the weapon to school and shoots to kill at close range.

At the point she says the shooter and the parents are involved in premeditated murder, this press conference needs to end. We know lawyers are surely involved now waiting for anything to be said that they can use to exonerate their three clients before indictments are handed down.
And another fellow homo sapien, female variant responds:
V N: They know it was premeditated, they have his journal, his plans and his videos saying he was going to do it, and what he was going to do.
T McK: Yes. In fact there is an Instagram or Facebook Live video of a white parent who pulled those videos and apparently parents who armed their son ( the weapon and bullet cartridges were purchased at a gun show by the father of the shooter as an "early Christmas present") and alledgedly, a school system that allowed guns to be brought into their building. The fact that there was so much terroristic threat messaging that the young man posted on various social media, e.g. YouTube, Facebook(?) goes directly to parental negligence and child endangerment ( shooter is 15) confirms why they were refraining from going into any detail. They do not want to hamper their strong case by being on record before their official investigation is concluded, charges are filed, miscreants are arrested and bound over for trial. They do not want to give some slick defense attorney the leverage to say Local Law Enforcement tried this case in its public statements. We can have this conversation, but if they have it now, they potentially damage the State's case. Hope this clarifies what I said initially.

Let's have a national conversation about six "variants" of child murder in 2021 in the USA:
1- unarmed children shot by adults
2- unarmed children shot by children armed by adults
3- unarmed children shot by law enforcement
4- Abortion of unwanted pregnancies
5- Abortions to save the life of the mother
6- Abortions to save the life of another viable fetus
Let me begin with some artifacts from my life story. I will also offer some context and nuance to justify my right to speak as a generalist and expert witness based upon a series of unfortunate-but-true family secrets.
Once upon a time in December, at the prior to the close of the 20th Century, I came out to my parents as a Gay Black American-and-National Baptist middle son and incest survivor. That rather breath-defyingly long string of tribal affiliations traces two earth-shattering secrets that had colluded to almost murder my mind, body, and soul by drowning them in the primordial terror that someone else would share them -- if I contracted HIV and developed full-blown AIDS.
But none of that thirty-three year old existential dread had prepared me for my normally cool, calm, and collected mother's emotional response that permanently rocked my world at the cellular level.
When her ob/gyn confirmed that I was gestating in her womb, her first reaction was, "Oh NO! I can not be pregnant! We already have one baby and I'm the only breadwinner right now until my husband, a traumatized Korean War Veteran, can get re-employed!" Is it too late to abort the fetus?
Well, as it turned out, this confirmed a feeling deep in my soul that I apparently had formed while I was the fetus in utero. In simple vocabulary-- I felt totally "not wanted".
As I come to the conclusion of what began as a conversation about the deaths of innocent children, I want NEW RULES FOR ALL PROCREATIVE AND NOT-EVER PROCREATIVE M2M sex:
1. No procreative sex without the mutual consent of both parties and their agreement to consciously co- parent any subsequent progeny with unconditional TLC and respect.
2. No non-procreative sex without the mutual consent of both parties in a circle of unconditional love and mutual respect.
MY legislation would say, the potential embryo/fetus deserves the right to be wanted and to thrive in a loving stable, intentional family using the principal foundation of mutually informed consent.
I do not want anyone to experience any of the horrors of my life. I only wish to share my best curated quality content and innovative ideas and instruction. I will spend the rest of my life on earth teaching, coaching, and mentoring-- by every means at my disposal.
