In April 2022 Lynae Vanee says,
"Listen, I don't subscribe to the belief that Black people can't have breaking points. That Black people have to set aside their humanity to maintain visuals for whites, or even that we have to practice resilience in every trying situation as a form of resistance in every situation. Why? Because @00:00:44 "...resilence is a trap."
"See, we live in a world where people need to understand that there's a possibility that they can be hit in the mouth for saying stupid s**t, racist s**t, bigoted s**t and ableist s**t. Because right now it seems that historically the only people who have had to suffer as a consequence of their actions are those who provide equal and opposite reactions in situations where they are provoked by people in power, you know, like Anita Hill for defending herself against Clarence Thomas, or Travon Martin for defending himself against people like George Zimmerman."
"Now am I saying that violence is the answer? Absolutely not. But...we keep..."
Lynae Vanee, 2022
I wish...
1.) No gestating viable fetus ever remembered what it is to feel rejected by their mother in utero and have their mother confirm their memory as an adult.
2.) No infant or toddler had been anally raped with such force that it caused permanent scarring that digesting certain roughage as an adult then caused to bleed again. This led to the adult Black gay man being accused of willfully exposing himself to contracting HIV/AIDS by having frequent unprotected anal sex while living alone on a seminary campus as a single adult.
3.) No active older adult had been cheated out of over $20,000 in rent, food, gas, and Motel 6 lodging by 2 white females, one from Alabama.
4.) No veteran teacher, writer, and professional personal transformational coach had ever been underpaid, exploited, cheated, and lied about by the second-largest public school district in the USA and its sole bargaining agent for certificated teachers.
5.) NO differently-abled gay black man had ever been groped by a belligerent and bellicose morbidly obese man, reported the incident, and then had the person assigned to his work team.
6.) No talented black gay writer should be encouraged by the trans owner of a media firm to work full-time hours as an unpaid independent film critic and reporter-interviewer of creative fine and performing artists for almost 8 consecutive years on-demand and then be characterized as " the crazy villian" after tendering their resignation.
I wish these six things especially since in each of these cases the recipient of the abuse wanted each perpetrator to die a long slow and painful death for each offense in addition to never having to ever occupy the same planet with them -- ever again. A "world where people need to understand that there's a possibility that they can be hit in the mouth for saying stupid"( insert word for soft and warm excrement here) is not sustainable and will ultimately self-destruct.
Dear Lynae Vanee:
The six gay black men whose stories I have shared in my response to your video is my best friend since Pre-K. We will all turn 63 later this spring. They actually are huge fans of your work. Each of the six loves that we live in a nation where your voice and opinions can be heard with closed captions for people like two of them who also have intermittent blindness due to Blepharospasm in both sets of eyelids. Two are also persons living with other disabilities directly related to decades of trauma and corporal punishment, often for the misbehavior of others. One of my friend's father/ primary abuser and exploiter told him it was done to " keep him and his 2 brothers "in line." I and My six friends think everyone involved are spoiled brats and very wrong for their roles in the slap seen around the world.
So, I repeat : No Corporal Punishment: An Invitation to Long Overdue Conversations Black Americans Need to have in ALL THE SPACES Black folks OCCUPY in 2022
