Step 1:
2021. State government is closed in South Carolina today for this. They need a day off to mourn the end of plantation slavery.
Step 2:
This one even surprises me. Really? SC fam, why didn't you tell me they were doing this is? Is this prevalent in other Southern states? I knew that many folks were hanging on to the Confederacy in many ways, but closing government offices - in 2021. Oh my!
Step 3:
I am begrudgingly beginning to understand the Southern Metaphor was more like " We NEVER EVER LET GO!" Once I allowed that thought into the realm of possibility, I now can be calm, focused, and determined in active opposition to willful ignorance. Et Tu?
