Texas is poised to remove one of its last major gun restrictions after lawmakers approved allowing people to carry handguns without a license, and the backgrou...
I wish this was not about to happen. Tonight, 5.24.21, I want divine intervention to rapture every gun on earth.
So, do we return the state of Texas to Mexico, close all unmonitored travel into and out of America , and let them hash it out? Or is their anything the Federal Government can do? It is so ironic that a man who lost the use of his lower body? legs only? by exercising his freedom to run down a tree-laden street after hours of tornado-level winds and precipitation would sign such a sociopathic piece of legislation. Or perhaps more than his spinal cord was irrevocably injured in the accident. He did go on to sue the owner of the property where the tree was growing and had fallen on top of him. I believe the judgement he was awarded bankrupted the property owner and won.

Texans, considered as a group of humans residing in the state and or having friends or family still residing in the state, will feel the need to arm themselves. This means this law will almost immediately increase the risk of accidental death by firearms in Texas and all of their neighboring and border states. Texanophobia will become a "thing". I will now have to think about Texans as potential risks in socialization and workplace situations where they might become angry or upset. I will not ever feel comfortable around Texans again because I will.have no way to know if they armed armed and therefore deadly. They might as well change their state signage to warn people that any one of them could be carrying a concealed (or not) armed and deadly weapon. As always, I question the need for such weapons in all urban and suburban societies. Can Gov. Abbott's parents, grandparents and or great parents on his or his spouses side of the family make the phone call to beg, plead, threaten or cajole him to reject the bill? Can the nations major institutions mobilize to stop this measure from becoming law? What about TD Jakes, Joel Osteen, a bunch of mega-church ministers, public school teachers, therapists, anybody stop this insanity?
😱😱😖😖😡😡💀☠💀☠ I do not see any serious up side to this news. Lots of gallows humor and biting sarcasm. And COVID-19 has robbed me of my historical response-- how close am I to some people, places, and things I can choose NOT to be ANYWHERE Near, for any reason, under any circumstances, period. That settled, I could put it out of my mind.
But Texas?!!?! Emotional, thin skinned, live free or die, shoot first and ask questions only if they get caught? All the stereotypes too commonly substantiated in Texas gun fatalities wipes any attempt at a smile quickly off my face. Now I understand my father's absolute no exceptions ban on real or toy firearms in our household. As much as I suffered from corporal punishment and sibling fights where blood was drawn and bandages were typically required, the point is I lived to tell the stories, limbs intact, scars healed without keloids, as if nothing bad or terrifying had ever occurred.
The best outcome possible is permanent surgical scarring.and being eternally grateful to the medical professionals who saved my life? Being raised in a household where guns and or toy guns, missiles, and other plastics-molded-to-resemble-adult weapons also taught me about how it is people, specifically sentient human beings, who put the " deadly" into all weapons and how guns and related gun technology increase fatalities by orders of magnitude in direct proportion it hair-finger and rapid repeat firing triggers. People + loaded guns of every type = Unacceptable risk of loss of life.
