I have a nascent theory about the power of suggestion, fear, and mass hypnosis into hysteria = Christianity and the Bible’s impact especially in the USA. QWSCHOOLCOACH@GMAIL.COM PS: I also have a very pricey seminary degree, among other educational artifacts in 2023.

Fear is the universal greatest motivator, unfortunately. But no homo sapiens are born being afraid or fearful, these are learned behaviors from other homo sapiens we observe and or interact with over time. Consequently, any trained/experienced/competent-but-not-uber-talented bad faith actor can fear monger, tease, bully, shame, rush and otherwise con anyone who is feeling afraid/fearful/self-doubt, etc. So, create a space, call it a sanctuary, curate instrumental and or vocal performances to evoke/stoke/reinforce the ‘desired’ emotional energies, and voila — you too can whip the masses into hysterics and or paroxysms of laughter, anger, sexual arousal, etc. It can be heady, intoxicating, and addictive experience over time.

Now use the aforementioned process to placate and distract, entertain and enlighten, inspire and encourage , ENGAGE AND OUTRAGE— oh, and don’t forget to ask for that tithe/benevolence/offering- so it doesn’t immediately feel like you are paying for something, more like you are getting a ‘pearl of great price’ at a deeply discounted rate. By now you have a basic description of every official gathering of “spiritual community”. Add the “holy”/”sacred”/ancient/orthodox Biblical narrative and you have a way to prove the following equation :
