Ukraine has been an independent country since 1991, following the collapse of the Soviet Union, but Putin has repeatedly made clear that he doesn’t see it that way.

“Ukraine has never had its own authentic statehood,” Putin said. “There has never been a sustainable statehood in Ukraine.”

These principles, Lohsen explained, are outlined in international agreements, such as the United Nations Charter created in the aftermath of World War II, as well as the Helsinki Accords, the Paris Charter for European Security, and others that followed the Cold War. He said that such documents established the “rules of the game” that have helped reduce conflict around the world and specifically in Europe, over the last several decades.

Putin lies. Putin demonstrably is lying.

Some dude named Ian Bremmer, president and founder of Eurasia Group, a political risk research and consulting firm said one of his organizations fellows Andrew Lohsen [ Europe, Russia, and Eurasia Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.] Says war and retaliatory war could spread globally like a virus among other nations irregardless of their nuclear defense capabilities. This does not make sense to me. It would, ALSO, appear to be suicidal on the part of countries without nuclear defenses. It would be genocidal/ homocidal for those countries with nuclear defense systems.

When I was helping the MX ( PEACEKEEPER) program transition from engineering prototypes to large scale manufacturing, we called such beliefs, M.A.D., or Mutually Assured Destruction. Why would anyone advocate that unless they were certifiably, verifiably insane? In which case, they should be immediately placed in a locked facility for 72 hours of observation and assessment. In 72 hours, all the boys and their big boy toys could be disarmed and wiser heads could negotiate the peace ahead of Vladimir the Impaler's Release. Nuclear holocaust averted and peace in our time.

Joseph Robinette Biden, why not just do that? Cancel your unnecessary State of The Union, for reasons to numerous to enumerate right now when the essential need is no more nuclear and or conventional warfare ever again!
