WHY IS THE LOS ANGELES HOMELESS SERVICES AUTHORITY DROWNING…IN GREED? A 2025 PRESIDENT’S DAY UPDATE

FIXING THE Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority. ( LAHSA)
THE most egregious PROBLEM(per LA Times article dated November 20, 2024:
LAHSA has only recovered $2.8 million (USD) of the $50.8 million (USD) in Proposition H funds that it was awarded in the 2017-2018 fiscal year. The reader needs to understand that there are clearly other problems plaguing this agency, but since homelessness in Los Angeles City and County has increased unrelentingly since I received a severance package from The Weingarten Center for Homeless Services in February of 2014, financial management is not LAHSA’S only problem.
Full disclosure: BEFORE MY tenure at the Weingart Center Association, I was a Contract Specialist with LAHSA from 2005-2010. The CEO I served under, G.Michael Arnold was the first person that had been able to get all LAHSA’S service providers paid, then was retained as a CPA/financial consultant to get LAHSA to the point where it was paying providers on time. I share this to establish the fact that LAHSA’S current situation was preventable and is resolvable— by a team effort of 100% of its existing staff as of December 20, 2024.
