Very likely most people readingf your essay agree with this statement: "Today children are being deprived of an education because the LAUSD has shot itself in the foot." So, who is going to organize the PET team to commit the gang at Beaudry for a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation? Furthermore, becuase for 7 to 8 hours daily when classes are in session they are "en loco parentis" would it not be prudent to for groups of parents to tak ethem into custody pending as US D.O.E. temporary takeover to create a public school system that. at a minimum, provides a quality education and nutritious food to every student at every school?

There are many questions that the LA Board of Education and the 333 Beaudry staff, school site administrators, and all unionized and non-unionized staff need to answer, for example:

Why was the current Superintendent hired in a closed door session? Why is he ever being evaluated on any metric in a closed door session? Are there certain classroom staff who really need to find non-classroom staff jobs? How would a human resources staff of SHRM-certified professionals and adopting a policy of not working without signed and negiotiated bi-annual contracts eliminate the need for unions- just another costly freedom-stifling roadblock in the lives of members could make better use of dues in their family budgets?

Speaking of budgets, becasue public education is a public service for the public's good, there should not ever be closed door meetings on budgets. Finally, for now, how about giving evaluations of professors of pedadgogy more weight in teacher hiring and contract renewal by shifting professional development back to colleges and universities--finally acknowledging the motto of St, Paul Minnesota Public Schools*- "LIFELONG LEARNING". Look folks, the more successful and engaged learners our public schools produce, the safer our public school neighborhoods become.
