Well, first of all @Walter Rhein, I honestly don’t understand what’s going on in Florida UNTIL I recall all of my private citizen/visitor and public service ( DeKalb County, Georgia Department of Child and Family Services Foster-to-adopt social worker, among other experiences). The only Floridians who have welcomed me have been the majority of the Pan African American folks from 2019-2022 and a lone OG-MC (old guard-melanin challenged waitperson at the Intercontinental Hotel/Casino) back in 1986. My impression, also confirmed by work colleagues and traveling companions, is a state of, by and for adults with no children, preferably not BIPOC or LGBTQIA+. The ongoing silence from the Federal Government, the GOP,the DNC , and all of the major organized religious/spiritual communities in the USA as well as the attacks on The Disney Co. all confirm my experiences and suggest that considerably more than half of the USA want to see Florida as a Fascist Theocracy of some kind. Recall also that before “Gore, Hanging Chads, and “anti-CRT and voter suppression laws in Florida, there was a Female former socialite and Republican Secretary of State who disenfranchised tens of thousands of mostly Black voters in the state and before that a certain political activist beauty queen. Perhaps a better question that the USA needs to answer is : For whom and or for what does everything happening in Florida government produce generational wealth and or political power?
