After months, an intentional understatement, of not hearing from any biological relatives, today one of my families oldest paternal cousins not only spoke with me, she committed to pre-technology means of providing practical help towards transitional safe, secure housing while my low-income retirement housing is vetted for health and safety and cleanliness regulations.

As I like to point out to people when they note how much cleaner Los Angeles’ skies are after decades of environmental and resource conservation legislation, often first in the nation. Now we all breathe easier.

EXCEPT RIGHT NOW my breaths are shallow and anxious, not their pre-departure-from-toxic airborne, waterborne, and pest-borne toxins as cockroaches (feces), rodents ( dander, feces), feral cats ( dander, feces), 2 different types of black mold, and domestic cat/dog dander. All this present since 11.21.2023, when, for reasons I may never know, I was rented a ground floor corner 1 bed 1 bath, INSTEAD of the second floor sunlit unit I had originally applied for and thought I was going into. If only I WERE MORE CYNICAL AND DISTRUSTING of MJW INVESTMENTS, perhaps I would have seen this as a HUGE RED FLAG, and driven quickly away from an apartment which also contained an “illegally modified at initial installation” electric/gas hot water heater that So Cal Gas Co shut down upon inspection in December 2022.
