Whenever I read the phrase “ Progressive Catholic” I am reminded that Catholicism always pulls its Prelates in three or four opposing directions, at a minimum, yet it always also says it wants unanimity. What I understand of physics and biology and material science is this: when you put opposing directional stress upon an object, if you don’t deform it so it is unusable by anyone, you risk tearing it apart and also making it unusable by everyone. Why would anyone treat a Pope or any other human being in such cruel and potentially deadly ways?

The humane solution would be to have multiple popes. But then that calls for equitable distribution of the Vatican’s finances, and the same Catholic people pulling Catholicism asunder are not demonstrating a desire or ability(?) to share.
